  • Fred A. Stickel was laid to rest on Friday, October 2, 2015. Stickel worked 34 years as the publisher of The Oregonian. Signs of violent child abuse were not recognized by the caseworker, and Thomas died of injuries after a severe beating by his aunt.
  • Angela Virginia can't bring herself to say goodbye to her son and oldest child, Purvis, 12, at the conclusion of his funeral service. Purvis and a friend were missing for a month before their bodies were discovered in a pond at the park.

  • The family of Julio Cruz reacts after hearing the 19-year-old's sentence--10 years in prison--for the death of his 6-month-old son in March. Cruz pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide and will serve 10 years in jail and an additional 5 years of probation.
